Diabetes Friendly Holiday Drink

Posted by Jade Venhaus on

I don’t know about you, but around the holidays I love to enjoy a tasteful holiday beverage! The problem is that most holiday beverages are full of sugar and not exactly diabetes friendly. So, I’ve created a diabetes friendly holiday drink! It can be made alcoholic or non-alcoholic. Here is what you’ll need to make a Diabetes Friendly Holiday Moscow Mule:

1. Alcoholic Version

  • 1 Shot of Vodka
  • 2 oz. Diet Cranberry Juice
  • 4 oz. Diet Ginger Beer
  • ½ of a Freshly Squeezed Lime
  • Cranberries & Rosemary (for garnishes)

Note: these are the portions I recommend, but you can make it your own and change things up!

2. Non-alcoholic version

  • Diet Cranberry Juice
  • 4 oz. Diet Ginger Beer
  • ½ of a Freshly Squeezed Lime
  • Cranberries & Rosemary (for garnishes)

Also, I recommend drinking this drink with ice as it will taste best cold.

3. Instructions

  • Squeeze ½ of a Fresh Lime into your cup
  • Add ice (if you choose to drink with ice)
  • Add shot of vodka (skip this step if you’re going for the non-alcoholic version)
  • Add 4 oz. Diet Ginger Beer
  • Add 2 oz. Diet Cranberry Juice
  • Stir, and lastly add Cranberries & Rosemary for garnishes

The holiday time can be rough on your blood sugar, but I drank this drink at a recent holiday party, and my Dexcom showed a straight line (in range) the whole evening!

Happy Holidays! ☃️

  • This recipe is so AMAZING! Thank you so much for sharing. I love to have an alcoholic beverage when I have people over for gatherings, but am always too worried about my blood sugar getting out of control. So after finding this posted on your IG page, I thought I’d give it a try! And even after having a couple drinks my blood sugar was still in range :)
